The Department of Civil Engineering, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda organized the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Training and Learning Academy sponsored 5-Day online Faculty Development Program on “Waste Technology”, which begins here on Tuesday. As many as 200 participants including Faculty, staff, Research Scholars & PG scholars from various prestigious institutions are going to participate in this FDP.
The chief guest MRSPTU, Bathinda Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mohan Paul Singh Ishar inaugurated the FDP, while Campus Director of GZSCCET MRSPTU, Bathinda, Prof. (Dr.) Savina Bansal was Guest of Honour on this occasion.
During inaugural ceremony, Dr. Ishar expressed serious concern over contamination of our natural resources like water, air and soil. He pointed that our civilization is producing so much waste that our rivers are blocked by plastic and other chemical waste resulting in highly contamination of water sources. He further said rising and uncontrolled pollution badly contaminated our air quality, while our food chain has also been contaminated with residue of pesticide and chemicals.
Dr. Ishar said there is dire need for strong action plan to save natural resources for smooth survival of humanity on this planet. He stressed that best use of waste management and technology can play crucial role for clean environment for human beings. However at the same time social activism and social intervention is seriously required as only technology cannot sort out the whole problem. He congratulated the organisers for conducting important program for the enhancement of participant’s knowledge.
This program is being conducted on Google Meet. After inauguration, the program started with the very first Session by Dr. V. K. Garg on topic “Solid Waste Management by Vermitechnology”.
Professor & Head, Civil Engg. Deptt., Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar was Coordinator of the FDP. Co-coordinators Er. Sunita Kotwal & Er. Sukhdeep Singh welcomed the guests. On this occasion Dr. Rakesh Kumar enumerated the various features of the Civil Engineering Department and also welcomed all the participants from the different States of India. He further explained about the importance of managing waste in everyone’s life.
