The alleged firing incident was reported on Naruana road, near Amarpura Basti, PS Canal Colony, in Assembly Constituency 92- Bathinda Urban today i.e, on 20-02-2022, at around 12.30 noon, that two rounds have been fired. On this, SHO Canal Colony alongwith senior officers and force immediately reached the spot. Statement of Harjinder Singh alias Tony S/o Ranjit Singh R/o Street No. 10, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Bathinda was recorded, on which Case FIR No. 39 dated 20.02.2022 u/s 341, 427, 188, 171-B, 148,149 IPC PS Canal Colony has been registered. He has stated in his statement that he is Ex. MC and is supporter of Sh. Sarup Chand Singla, candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party. Today he came to know that Sanjay Vishwal, former MC, INC, is purchasing votes with power of money. On this, when he and his partner Manpreet Singh reached Naruana road, near Patta factory, some unidentified persons came on 5/6 vehicles and attacked them with baseball bats. Unidentified persons fired two shots in the air and they fled from the spot.
The above mentioned alleged incident of two rounds of firing is not corroborated by on-the-spot investigation and scanning of CCTV footage of the incident. However, detailed investigation of the above mentioned FIR is under process. No accused has been arrested so far. Efforts are on to identify the accused and nab them at the earliest.
