ED raids Punjab AAP MLA and other locations in Money Laundering Case

According to official sources, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out a series of searches on Tuesday at various locations in Punjab, including the premises of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh, in connection with an investigation into money laundering linked to drug-related activities.

The federal investigative agency, in conjunction with an escort of central paramilitary forces personnel, conducted these searches in areas spanning Mohali, Amritsar, and Ludhiana.

Moreover, the properties associated with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kulwant Singh in Mohali were also subject to scrutiny, as reported by the sources.

The ED’s actions are being executed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are believed to be rooted in an FIR filed by the Punjab Police related to a case involving narcotics and drug trafficking.

Notably, MLA Kulwant Singh recently made headlines when Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit called upon Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take “stringent measures” against the legislator’s real estate company. This request was prompted by alleged environmental norm violations in two projects in Mohali, which are being developed by Janta Land Promoters Limited (JLPL), a company owned by Singh.
